"What does it mean to be a warrior?"

Merriam-Webster has simplified it to this;
Function: noun
Usage: often attributive
a man engaged or experienced in warfare

We as warriors take pride in our experience and our calling. With weapons and armor we excel in every aspect. None is our equal when we crash head first into the front lines of the enemy. Our weapons are not spell or long fired, but close combat is our forte. We live for battle and are not satisfied till we see the whites of our enemies' eyes. Where there is glory to be had, we are there. We do not back down. We are the first to rush in and the last to leave, willingly sacrificing ourselves for the safety of others. It is not possible to sum up what a warrior is in mere words, but thankfully pictures are available to help illustrate our lifestyle. Let me show you what a warrior will do, for the sake of his comrades in arms. (That would be the picture to the right.)

A warrior skilled in the arts of protection and defense epitomizes the strength and endurance that those of the warrior class must show. Wielding battered shield and the heaviest of armors, a defender's sole purpose is to stand toe to toe with the toughest of enemies, laugh in their face, while making the proverbial taunt about the enemy's mother, and to stand strong even when being pummelled by the toughest foe. A defender's shield is his closest ally, a part of his left arm (because blizzard believes that no person/thing should be left handed), that allows him to deflect, withstand, and even crouch behind through all array of attacks and brutal batterings. Not only is a shield the Defender's strength, but they are masters of their strength, not only is the shield an object of defense, but it is their strongest offense as well, a weapon in its own right. Whether stunning foes to prevent them from casting agonzing spells, hitting them so hard that current spells are cancelled in the wake of confusion, or laughing as the defender's energies throw a cast spell back at its caster. A Defender's talents are varied and powerful in their own right, an advesary worthy of combat and worthy to be feared, provided there is a healer chasing them around.

What does it mean to be an Outcast Order Warrior?

First off, you are NOT required to be defense spec. Is it helpful in raids? Yes it can be, but if you're the main tank, it'd be silly not to be. But none of us here will tell you that you have to be defensive spec.

Next you are REQUIRED to have a one-hand weapon and shield in your pack at all times while raiding/instancing with our guild. Why, you may ask? You may be called upon to off tank a mob, and the armor/defense capabilities you gain from having a shield out, out-weigh any amount of damage you could possibly do. Not to mention, your execute damage doesn't change with whatever weapon you're holding. A letter opener will execute for just as much as a Planar Edge. Sorry.

You ARE expected to take your beats with a smile on your face. Which could sound really wrong taken out of context, but you are a warrior, our duty is to be the first in, and the last out. If we die before anyone else, and not by pretending to be Leroy Jenkins, then we've accomplished our mission. Yes our repair bills can be large, but the members of OO also know this and make preparations for the tanks in each of the instances to compensate for such bills.

Lastly, you are expected to have fun. Not just any type of fun, but Legendary fun. Be it pretending to pull a feign death maneuver with a soul stone, or running as the bomb, at the split second Geddon dies, to Teague, because of his remarks that always seem to end up with him dead.

So, keep your nose up, be proud of who you are, we are warriors, we are the first and only line of defense, we are nothing short of Legendary, and above all else we are all Outcast.

Dismissed.

Warrior Strategies

Player responsibilities

There are two different types of warriors. Those who are designed to lead the armies of the Outcasts into fearsome encounters and stand vigilant in front of the toughest foes. Wielding shield and the strongest of armors, these warriors are known as Tanks. The other type of warrior disregards all thoughts to his own safety and instead specializes in creating the most damage as possible in the shortest period of time. We call this warrior Sragg and those who wish to be like him, Sragglings.

You will be called to tank, and no matter what specialty you are, you will at one point or another. So you better make sure you have a shield somewhere in that pack space of yours and a set of armor that won't make your mother laugh you all the way out of the house. When you are called to tank you will strive to your utmost to keep whatever foe you've been assigned to focused on you. Whether that be through repeated damaging attacks, high threat gaining abilities, or calling it's mother all manner of obscenity.

Your job is to not die, and let no one else die. Keep your foe where he is supposed to be and take your beats with a smile on your face.

If you are brought to be a whirling mass of destruction. Do so. Do not shy away from enemies but strike them down with your most savage of attacks. Be ever mindful however of the meters that show how close you are to making your tank's enemy look your way. If you pass it, you will be killed. If the enemy doesn't, your tank probably will.

Below are some strategies for both of these positions.
